Finding 11 · Agents

An AI agent reached the contact page on 9 of 10 business websites and found the price on 1

No website shut the door. What was missing was the information.

On 2 October 2026 an AI agent carried out three tasks on 12 Spanish websites, three times each: find the price, the opening hours and the contact route. On the 10 client company websites it reached the contact route on 9 and found the price on 1. Opening hours, on 6. No website blocked it with a bot check: of the 48 failed attempts, in 40 the agent went through four pages without finding the information. And when it does not find it, it sometimes makes it up: on our own website it gave prices of €300, €225 and €790 that do not exist, until we put the prices on the homepage.

Sample
12 websites (10 client companies and 2 of our own) · 3 tasks × 3 attempts = 108 attempts
Period
2 October 2026
Method
A real browser (Chromium) opens the homepage and a small model (gpt-4o-mini, no web search) reads the visible text and the list of links on the same site and decides: "found it", with the sentence copied from the page, or "open this link". Up to 4 pages per task. Read-only: no form is filled in or submitted. An answer only counts as found if the quoted sentence is on the page and supports it (a figure for the price; hours or days for opening hours; a phone number, email or form for contact). Each task is repeated 3 times and counts as done on a site if it succeeds in 2 of 3.

A website counts in the second column if the agent succeeded in at least 2 of the 3 attempts. The third column includes our two websites, joseredondo.es and vilnux.com.

It was not blocked: the information was not there

We expected bot checks, prices in PDFs and pages that cannot be read without JavaScript. We found something else: 0 blocks and 0 PDFs. Of the 48 failed attempts, in 40 the agent went through the four pages we allowed without finding the information, and in 2 it hit a broken link on the website itself. Most service businesses do not publish their price, not even a range. A person calls and asks. An agent that has to compare three options for its user keeps the ones that do say it.

When it does not find it, it sometimes makes it up

The agent has to copy the sentence from the page where the information is, and that sentence is searched for in the real text. In the final sample, of the 65 times it said "found it", in 2 the sentence was not on the page and in 3 the sentence existed but did not support its answer (for example, "free" as the price of a service that is not free). That looks like little, but it is exactly the case nobody sees: the agent does not tell its user it could not find the price, it gives a figure.

Our own website, before and after

It happened to us. The joseredondo.es homepage did not say what anything cost: prices were on inner pages. Before we changed it, the agent found the price 1 time out of 3, and only because it went to the pricing page. The other two times it made the figure up: 300 € and 225 €. In an earlier run that same day, 790 €. None of those prices exists.

We added a table to the homepage with the price of each service, exactly as already published on their pages. In the next measurement the agent found the price 3 out of 3 times, on the homepage itself. The sample above uses that second measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent find the price of my services on my website?

Only if it is written down. In our test with 10 Spanish business websites, an AI agent found the price on 1 and reached the contact route on 9. None blocked it: in almost every failure the price was not published on the pages it went through.

Do AI agents make up prices?

Sometimes. On our own website, when the homepage had no prices, the agent gave figures of €300, €225 and €790 that do not exist. When we added the prices to the homepage, it found them all 3 times.

Do websites block AI agents?

In our sample, no: 0 of 12 websites put a bot check in its way. The problem was different: the information it was looking for was not written down.

What does a website need for an AI agent to choose it?

The information it decides with, written as text and close to the homepage: what it costs, when you are available and how to hire you. If it cannot find it, it compares with the websites that do give it, or makes it up.
